Noona Steakhouse & Oyster Bar


BIO:

Born in Mississippi, Chef AJ Binion says ‘opportunity’ brought him to Georgia originally and a baby on the way, brought him back to Georgia for good.

CULINARY BACKGROUND:
From his early days of watching his grandparents prepare french creole dishes, Chef AJ always had a love for food. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, Chef AJ’s career took him to New York working under Chef Brandon Burke and back to Georgia, at Rathbun’s in Atlanta where he served up modern American cuisine.

FAVORITE CULINARY MEMORY:
Getting the Executive Chef job at Noona has been Chef AJ’s favorite moment. “I’ve worked as a line cook for so long that being given the opportunity to show my talents has been a dream” says Chef AJ.

Fun Fact ABOUT CHEF:
AJ loves sports...catch him outside of the kitchen and he’ll probably be watching football - the Green Bay Packers are his team (has a cheesehead and all). Or he’ll be reading a book from his extensive book collection, mostly on history.

On MY Bucket List:
“Travel for sure,” AJ has to say, “I want to travel all over Europe, seeing the different countrysides and tasting the simple foods...oh, and I’d like to retire early, but who wouldn’t.”

ABOUT NOONA:
Noona Steakhouse and Oyster Bar, in downtown Duluth showcases classic American steakhouse and oyster bar favorites inspired by the forests and seashores of Korea. They use a wood burning grill for everything - no gas in the building. “It is unique in every way,” says Chef. Absolute menu items to try: any one of their bone-in 28 day dry aged steaks, charbroiled oysters, braised short rib and for sure their kimchi collard greens - a most popular side.

WHAT I’LL BE TASTING AT GOOD TASTE GWINNETT:
Chef AJ will be preparing their signature short ribs at the event - smoked for 5 hours and garnered with garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, cipollini onions and braising sauce.
